UNLINKING AUDIO FROM VIDEO

Audio and Video tracks can also be “unlinked” by using the “Linked Selection” control toggle that is at the very upper right corner of the Timeline next to the “Snapping” control.

By clicking this button, you can now edit video or audio independently of each other and slide them around independently.  Like using the locks to edit audio/video independently, there are good reasons to do this, but be careful of your sync and re-link everything when you’re not specifically wanting them unlinked to prevent you from accidentally bumping everything out of sync.

There are many more tools in the “tool palette” that will allow you to edit more quickly than by just using the selection tool and the razor blade.  But get used to using the Selection Tool and Razor Blade Tool first.
