STARTING A NEW PROJECT

Start with a clean slate:

--- Go up to the FCP window toolbar (at the top of the window) to where it says File

Go to File > Close Project and two of your four FCP windows should disappear. (If it asks you if you want to Save your project, click "No")

Now, go back up to File and open a “New Project” [File > New Project]

This will ensure that you’re all starting with a clean slate.  If somebody else has been using FCP and didn’t close their project before quitting the program, their project might appear when you start up the program.

Every time you are done working on your project you should not only save it, but also close the project.   This will help protect your project from being accidentally opened and prevent you from having too many projects open at once which can slow down the computer.
