Statistical
Consulting for Harm Reduction
We are
a group of researchers focused on reducing drug overdose
deaths in Ohio and worldwide. We analyze data, formulate
models, and answer questions from our colleagues working in
harm reduction. Our work can be used to advocate for
life-saving changes in policy.

this group:

University)

Members of this group have published dozens
of research papers, media pieces, and books, on various
facets of the overdose epidemic. Our research has been used
to lobby (successfully) for making naloxone more easily
available, legalizing fentanyl test strips, and supporting
syringe exchanges. We continue to offer pro-bono statistical
consulting to harm reduction organizations.
Our group welcomes researchers who want to get involved. This
kind of research has the potential to save lives, and
many of the research questions we address are suitable
for undergraduate students.
I maintain a Google Drive containing data sets, R code,
relevant published research, and open research questions.
Many of these data sets have never been analyzed, so even
simplistic analyses are publishable and can be very helpful
to harm reduction professionals. If you would like access to
this Google Drive, or join this project, or if you have a
research question you would like us to answer, please email
David White at david.white@denison.edu.
