Music for World Citizens
Every Saturday when Denison University is in session, I play reggae music on WDUB-FM, 91.1 in the Newark/Granville Ohio area. My radio show began as "Remedial Reggae" in 1998, then became "Good Reggae" in 2003 (named after former President of Denison University, Robert C. Good), and in Fall 2005 its name changed again to "Music for World Citizens." | ![]() |
Besides playing great reggae music, Music for World Citizens includes music from Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Africa, and other parts of the world. Occasionally, guests from the area bring their own favorite music for world citizens and talk about why they love it.
My radio show was inspired by the great reggae radio produced by my comrades Earl Panton (Ras Septi) and Ras Glenn Mahon for WHBI-FM in New York City in the early 1980s. WDUB-FM (the best possible call letters for reggae music) is a student-operated radio station at Denison University, and its programming can be heard streaming live over the internet at www.wdub.org.
Some of our special programs have included Righteous Rasta Music for Coronation Day (November 2), reggae for parents when Denison University has its Parents' Weekend, and Bob Marley birthday specials in early February. When artists will be playing in Columbus (30 miles away), their music is featured, as I've done recently with Joe Hill and Culture, Beenie Man, and Capleton.

Interview with Bob Marley
In September 1980, just three days before he collapsed in Central Park, I had
an hour-long interview with Bob Marley. Here's the transcript.
