Overview

Research in The Reczek Group integrates multiple areas of Chemistry, including techniques in Organic Synthesis, Materials Chemistry, Electrochemistry, and Photovoltaics. The broad goal of our research is to develop new Organic Materials for Molecular Electronics and Solar Cell applications.

Our approach to new materials aims to combine multiple components, which are individually simple to make and modify, into complex mixtures who's properties are 'different' from the sum of their parts. This potentially allows for a wide variety of materials with unique and tunable bulk properties achieved with relatively little synthetic effort.

Currently we are working on the synthesis of a variety of electron-rich and electron-poor aromatic molecules which when combined have interesting phase behavior, UV-visible, and electronic properties. We hope to incorporate these new, tuneable materials into Low-Cost Solar Cells.
