Physics 245, Applied Mathematics for Physical Systems
Advice regarding the exams

Although it is our goal that you should learn the concepts of the course, we must have some way to evaluate you. Therefore, we have to give exams. (Yuck).

Information regarding Exam #1

Exams: General
Exams: Number and location
Exams: Make-up exams
Exams: As relates to your grade
Exams: Format
Exams: Formulae that you need

Exams: General

The exams in this course are meant to give the instructors some idea of how well you understand the concepts presented. Therefore, problems will concentrate on physics rather than difficult math (that is, they will be "physics-hard" and "math-easy").

Exams: Number and location

There will be six, regular, class-long exams given in the course. For specific dates see the course schedule.

Exams: Make-up exams

With the exception of excused medical absences,
THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP EXAMS! ANY EXAM WHICH YOU MISS WILL BE GRADED AS A ZERO.

Exams: As relates to your grade

The six exams will count for 42% of your total course grade.

Exams: Format

The exams will all be given in the classroom, during the normal classroom meeting time. You will also have a take-home portion as well.
The exact problem format of the exams will vary; however we can say that the exams will tend to emphasize concepts and simple math.

Exams: Formulae that you need

You will not be allowed to use an equation sheet for the exams.
