(1970). "Concerning Empty and Ful-filled Time." Southern Journal of Philosophy, 341-353.

(1972). "The Continuity of History and the Existential Moment." Philosophy Today. 230-240.

(1998). Praise of Theory. (Yale University, 1998) is collection of Gadamer's more recent essays and speeches. Both the first essay, "Culture and the Word," and the translatoršs introduction expand on one of the most important advances in Gadamer's thought -- his elaboration of the scholastic concept of the verbum interius.

RECENT GADAMER SCHOLARSHIP

Brice R. Wachterhauser in BEYOND BEING (Northwestern University, 1999) theorizes that criticism of Gadamer has been distorted because it has not understood the profound relation of his Plato scholarship to his hermeneutics.

James Risser in HERMENEUTICS AND THE VOICE OF THE OTHER: RE-READING GADAMERšS PHILOSOPHICAL HERMENEUTICS (SUNY, 19997) deals with Gadamer's later writings to challenge some commonly held positions on Gadamer.

Rod Coltman in THE LANGUAGE OF HERMENEUTICS (SUNY, 1998) examines the complex relationship between Gadamer and Heidegger.
