This webpage created and currently maintained by John Arthos (arthos@denison.edu). I wrote the bulk of this site over a period of three months this past summer (2007). It represents the latest stage in the now four-years-long initiative to bring oral competence to the divisions at Denison. I began this project initially to provide a resource for general faculty who are teaching or will teach “R” courses, as a method to educate myself on the broadest aspects of this issue, and as a tool I can use as I undertake my new duties as interim coordinator for the program. In many ways this site has been an opportunity for me to find expression for and discover how I think oral competence can be an across-the-divisions program at Denison. I envision the authorship of this site now to open up, in a wiki-like fashion, to others who want to become involved in its co-creation. The means of entry is to put pen to paper and share in the work of conceptualizing this wonderful new experiment in education. I invite you all to become co-authors in this project.
