Humanist Hermeneutics

The course is organized around ten hermeneutic principles.  Students will learn about these principles through reading and discussion, and then engage in practical activities to see how they are embodied in the world.  Because hermeneutics is an art grounded in tradition, the readings will extend the length of Western history, and provide an opportunity to read and discuss authors as diverse as Hannah Arendt, Sappho, Luther, and Nietzsche.
