HABITAT: Small to large streams, lakes, ponds. Occasionally construsts simple burrows.
NATURAL DISTRIBUTION: Canada: Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan. US: Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
NOTES: This species has been widely introduced throughout the US and other countries.
