Education:
B.A., Reed College, 1999
Ph.D., California Institute of Technology, 2008
Research Interests:
I am interested in synthesizing and studying new materials that can be used for low-cost solar energy conversion devices. My research relies on simple and low-cost methods to make electrodes from new forms of iron oxide with architecture on the nanometer scale, and characterizing both their physical and photoelectro-chemical properties.
Teaching:
Atoms and Molecules: Structure and Dynamics (Chem 131)
Structure and Reactivity of Organic Molecules (Chem 132)
Intermediate Analytical Chemistry (Chem 331)
Chemistry and Materials of Sustainable Energy (Chem 428)
Personal Interests:
I love the outdoors. Some of my favorite activities are rock climbing, camping and hiking, backpacking, surfing, and snowboarding. And since I don't always get a chance to do all those things all the time, I'm pretty happy taking care of my garden, going for a walk in the woods, or just going to the park with my family.
